ISED, Canada's Innovation, Science and Economic Development Agency, issued the Notice SMSE-006-23 on July 4th, the Decision on Telecommunication and Radio Equipment Service Fees of Certification and Engineering Bureau, which clearly stated that the new telecommunication and radio equipment charging requirements will be implemented on September 1st, 2023.

What does this mean for the certification application submitted by the certification body? 

 From September 1, 2023, the following fees will be applied to the application of certification bodies:

Equipment registration fee 

If you apply to the Minister for registration of telecommunication equipment in the Terminal Equipment Registration Form maintained and published by him, or for listing certified radio equipment in the Radio Equipment List maintained and published by him, you shall pay an equipment registration fee of 750 Canadian dollars for each application, in addition to any other applicable fees.    

* The equipment registration fee replaces the listing fee, which is applicable to the new single piece or new series of applications submitted by certification bodies.

Equipment registration correction fee

When applying to the Minister for approval to modify radio equipment certification or telecommunication equipment registration (or a combination of both, called double application), in addition to any other applicable fees, an equipment registration modification fee of 375 Canadian dollars shall be paid.

The equipment registration modification fee replaces the listing fee, which is applicable to license changes (C1PC, C2PC, C3PC, C4PC), multiple listing and certification transfer applications submitted by certification bodies.
